Atascadero is located just south of Templeton and about 10 minutes north of San Luis Obispo, with a population of just over 28,000.
The charming City of Atascadero boasts the beloved Atascadero Lake Park, which provides year-round activities such as kayaking/paddle boarding, a walking path around the lake, workout stations and areas for BBQ’s or private gatherings.
Atascadero is also home to the only Zoo in the County! The Charles Paddock Zoo is a local favorite and home to over 200 animals.
Hike and bike trails are abundant for those that want to be active outdoors and take in the beautiful scenery and fresh central coast air.
A few annual events worth mentioning include the Fireman’s Ball to support the local fire department, the Tamale Festival in the downtown park and Winter Wonderland which features an enormous snow slide, rock climbing wall, several snow play areas, craft food vendors and plenty of fun to be had by all age groups!
